Recently I realized that I’ve stopped sketching and doodling like I used to back in high school. I’m trying to, but I can’t seem to return to those days, and I still don’t know why I stopped.

I used to be afraid of seeing artists more talented than me.
(Honestly, I kinda still am.)
This is silly, because I’M NOT THAT GOOD.
I honestly don’t think I’m the best artist or animator there is. That’s REALLY obvious to me. In fact, I’m GLAD I’m not the best there is, especially at my current talent level.
What a sad world that would be!
I’m glad there are better artists and animators than I am. Really, I am. Because I get to learn from them!
I just have to get rid of the fear that tries to creep in, whenever I see some awesome work like this or this or this. Because that fear will beat me down, make me want to quit. It’ll tell me that I’m not that good (true), and that I can never be that good (false).
Fear is an obstacle to inspiration.
I’m amazed it’s taken me this long to even figure out that I need to figure this out.
Not sure if anyone else out there is in the same boat, but if you are?
Just be inspired, man.
If someone’s better than you, good! If you look at it the right way, it won’t hurt you, but help you.
If you’re not the best [whatever you do] in the world, good! That means you have someone to help you get better.

Nothing more counter-productive to creativity than fear, nothing more toxic than jealousy.

Unused storyboard panels.
Still cleaning up the old folders. This bit was edited out of the final battle. A bit sad, as it would have been fun to have seen more of North’s sword fighting, even if only for a few extra shots.
